It is going to be a clash of the titans at the box office this March. Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’ will lock horns with Yash’s ‘Toxic’. The two much awaited film will face a cut-throat competition. Director Sanjay Gupta feels neither of the films will be able to perform to its potential. He warned that the films would eat into each other’s’ business.

“I will watch both the films, but, unfortunately, both are coming together, because they’re so highly awaited. And they will just eat into each other’s business,” he said in an interview. Sanjay Gupta recalled the massive clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ and how the films would have fared even better had they released on different dates.

Raees and Kaabil’s fate

“It’s like when my movie Kaabil released with Raees. Both films would have benefited if they had been released individually and not clashed. Because we have to take into account that we are not a super-rich country, and our people don’t have money flowing that they can just go and watch two films back-to-back,” he said.

Sanjay Gupta added that for many of the audience in this country, they can’t watch two movies a month. He added that makers might have had their reasons for releasing the film on the same day but this would deter the two firebrands from reaching their capacity.

“There are many people who can’t watch two films in one month. It’s unnecessary, but again, the makers probably have their reasons. Both films will do well, but neither will accomplish their individual capacity. So, it’s unfortunate,” he told Variety India.

Both Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic are slated for theatrical release on March 19.
