Honorarium of para teachers reduced by Rs 6000 in Jharkhand, AG seeks opinion from government
Ranchi: Education Project will again seek legal opinion on the reduction in the honorarium of assistant teachers (para teachers) on the basis of JETT discrepancy. For this, a proposal has been sent to the Advocate General. Due to different appointment class and JET passing level, the honorarium of about 2000 assistant teachers of the state has been reduced by Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 from the month of January. The project has sought legal advice from the Jharkhand Advocate General’s office for the second time in the matter.
Voting begins in 48 civic bodies in Jharkhand, more than 43 lakh voters will elect the city government
Regarding this, Jharkhand Education Project had sent a letter to the districts in December 2025, in which it was made mandatory for the teachers appointed for classes 1 to 5 and teachers appointed for classes 1 to 5 and 6 to 8 to have passed JETT of classes 6 to 8. Teachers were instructed to give the amount of honorarium increase received on successful JET on this basis only. On the basis of this letter, the honorarium of teachers was also reduced by the districts. Jharkhand Education Project has sought opinion from the Advocate General on this matter, so that it can be decided whether the salary cut will continue or the increased honorarium will be restored.

This is the case: There are about 2000 para teachers in the state who are not successful in JET as per their appointment. Such appointed teachers are for classes one to five and have passed TET for classes six to eight. Similarly, there are some teachers who have been appointed for classes six to eight, but have passed classes one to five.
What was the situation before January: Till January, the increased honorarium given to all teachers who passed JETT was also available to those teachers who had not passed JETT of their appointed class.
