Asia’s ‘most beautiful island’ welcomes 366,000 tourists during Tet holidays

Phu Quoc, voted Asia’s most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, received 366,000 tourist arrivals during the nine-day Tet holiday break, up 30% from last year.

The island welcomed 92,000 foreigners during the holidays that wrapped up on Feb. 22, up 24% year-on-year, according to a report from An Giang Province’s Department of Tourism.

Phu Quoc International Airport recorded 50 international flights on the first day of the Tet break on Feb. 14, marking the highest daily figure since the airport commenced operations in 2012.

The Vietnam’s largest island expects to receive 8.5 million tourists this year, up 5% from last year, including two million foreigners, an 11% increase.

Vietnam’s tourism sector served 14 million visitors during the holidays, up 12% year-on-year.
