In Hindu religion, the fast of Ekadashi is considered very special, but Amalaki Ekadashi, which is also known as Rangbhari or Amala Ekadashi, falling in the Shukla Paksha of Phalgun month, has a different significance. It is believed that fasting on this day and worshiping the Amla tree not only relieves a person of his troubles but also frees him from the bondage of birth and death.

According to the calculations of the Panchang, this time the Ekadashi tithi will start from 12:33 pm on 27 February 2026, which will continue till 10:32 pm on the same day. Giving priority to Uday Tithi, the fast will be observed on Friday, 27th February only.
The right time for Amla Puja will be from 6:48 to 11:08 in the morning. On February 28, you can break Paran i.e. fast between 6:47 am to 9:06 am.

On this day, wake up early in the morning, take bath, wear clean clothes and take a pledge to fast. In the worship of Lord Vishnu, offer incense, lamp, fruits and especially Tulsi leaves. After this, go to a nearby Amla tree and offer water to it and light a lamp and revolve around it.

Food and drink: Eat buckwheat, sago, makhana kheer or fruits during the fast. It is very auspicious to donate Amla and eat it as Prasad.
Caution: On the day of Ekadashi, rice, pulses, tamasic food like onion-garlic, meat and alcohol should be completely avoided. Also avoid getting angry or speaking ill of anyone.

According to the scriptures, Lord Vishnu resides in the Amla tree. According to an ancient legend, a hunter unknowingly stayed awake all night on this day and listened to the story of God, due to which all the sins of his next birth were washed away. At the same time, it is called ‘Rangbhari Ekadashi’ because it is believed that on this day Lord Shiva came to Kashi for the first time after performing Gauna of Mother Parvati.
