Municipal elections process begins in Jharkhand

Ranchi: The voting process in 48 municipal bodies in Jharkhand started at 7 am on Monday. While at some places enthusiasm was seen among the voters, at many places the pace of voting remained slow. From the general public to special persons, they exercised their right by standing in queues to vote. Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren also voted, along with the Chief Minister, his wife and Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren also took part in the voting. Similarly, minister Irfan Ansari and artist Neha Tirkey also exercised their franchise.

Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar went to the polling booth in Ranchi and cast his vote. Describing voting as an essential part of democracy, he appealed to all citizens to vote voluntarily and fairly. Gangwar said that citizens should elect such public representatives who are dedicated to the development of the region and the state.

Ministers’ participation and appeal

Jharkhand’s Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey voted in the Ranchi Municipal Corporation elections. He appealed to the general public for active participation in the elections. Tirkey said this is an important part of democracy, and people should elect representatives who have education, experience and a vision for development.

Incidents of disturbance and chaos

Voters were seen creating ruckus at some polling stations of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation. A voter created a ruckus after finding a discrepancy in the information printed in the voting slip, due to which the voting process was stopped as soon as possible. To prevent such incidents, the Presiding Officer has given instructions for investigation.

Police presence has been increased in the electoral process at various places. Police also intervened at the polling station in Gumla district, due to which the minor uproar could be controlled. Peaceful voting process is going on at most places.

Bogus voting allegations

Allegations of bogus voting in Bhojpur Colony of Bokaro have increased the concerns of the administration. Here three women have been detained in suspicious condition. The administration has said that conducting fair elections is their priority and strict action will be taken against any irregularities.

Boycott of voting in a particular place

Voting was boycotted in two wards of Koderma Nagar Panchayat. The pace of voting in these wards was extremely slow, with only seven votes cast in Ward 11 and no voting in Ward 5. Voting is being held here only for the post of President, due to which there is no enthusiasm among the voters.
