Threats to bomb Red Fort and Delhi Secretariat received

There was panic among the security agencies in the national capital Delhi on Monday afternoon when a threat was received to blow up the Red Fort and Delhi Secretariat with bombs. According to the police, a threatening email was sent in the name of Khalistani group, following which an immediate search operation was started in both the premises.

Delhi Police said that as soon as the information was received, teams of senior officers, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and Delhi fire brigade reached the spot. As a precautionary measure, the Red Fort complex was evacuated and the employees working in the Delhi Secretariat located at ITO were also evacuated. Intensive investigation is being done inside and outside both the places.

According to police officials, taking the threat received through email seriously, the cyber cell has been activated. Technical investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the email and the identity of the sender. Cyber ​​experts are also investigating how often the concerned group has given such threats in the past and to what extent its possible contacts may be connected.

Earlier on Monday morning too, two schools in the capital had received a bomb threat. Threats were sent to Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan and Air Force Bal Bharti School through email. As soon as the information was received, police and fire department teams reached the spot and the school premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure. No suspicious item was confirmed during the investigation.

At present, security arrangements have been tightened in the Red Fort and Delhi Secretariat. Officials say that no possibility will be ignored until the investigation is completed. The police have appealed to the general public not to pay attention to rumors and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the administration.

Threats received against many important places and educational institutions in the capital in a single day have increased the vigilance of security agencies. Investigative agencies are busy connecting digital footprints of emails and possible network links.
