‘Indian citizens who are currently in Iran should leave the country immediately…’ Indian Embassy issued a warning to its citizens.
US-Iran Tension : In view of the tension with America and the current situation in Terhan, India has issued a warning to its citizens to leave Iran immediately. The Indian Embassy in the country has said that Indian citizens who are currently in Iran should leave Iran through existing means of transport including commercial flights.

The advisory issued by the Indian Embassy on Monday (23 February 2026) states – “In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2026, and in view of the changing situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran (students, pilgrims, businessmen and tourists) are advised to leave Iran through available modes of transport, including commercial flights.”

The advisory further said- “In the advisory dated January 14, 2026, it is reiterated that all Indian citizens and PIOs should exercise utmost caution, avoid protest or demonstration sites, remain in touch with the Indian Embassy in Iran and keep an eye on local media for any developments.”
“All Indian nationals in Iran are requested to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and ID, handy with them. They are requested to contact the Indian Embassy for any assistance in this regard.”
