Nemesio Ruben Oseguera Cervantesbetter known as El Mencholed Mexico’s powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) until his death in February 2026. Alongside his criminal notoriety, his family — especially his children — has drawn intense public interest due to their involvement in cartel operations and legal troubles.

El Mencho was married to Rosalinda González Valenciaa member of the influential Valencia clan that helped run the CJNG’s financial and money-laundering network. The couple reportedly married in 1996 and had three children togetherthough they were said to have separated legally around 2018.

1. Rubén Oseguera González (“El Menchito”)

The eldest child is Ruben Oseguera Gonzalezcommonly called “El Menchito”. He was born on 14 February 1990 in San Francisco, California and holds dual Mexican-American citizenship.

El Menchito rose to senior leadership within the CJNG and was considered second-in-command under his father before his capture. He was extradited to the United States and convicted on charges including murder, drug trafficking, and firearms offenses in Washington, D.C. A U.S. federal court sentenced him to life imprisonment.

2. Jessica Johanna Oseguera González

Another child of El Mencho and Rosalinda is Jessica Johanna Oseguera Gonzálezoften referred to by the alias “The Black”. She was also born in San Francisco and holds American and Mexican citizenship.

Jessica was arrested in 2020 in Washington, D.C. when she traveled to visit her brother. She was charged with financial crimes linked to cartel activitiesincluding dealing with U.S. Treasury-blacklisted businesses and supporting the CJNG financially. In 2021 she pleaded guilty and served a prison sentence in the United States before being released.

3. Laisha Oseguera

The youngest of El Mencho’s three children is Laisha Oseguera. Less is publicly known about her compared with her siblings, but reports indicate she has been involved in the CJNG’s network and had personal ties to other cartel associates.

At one point, Laisha’s partner — Cristian Fernando Gutiérrez Ochoa — was a high-ranking CJNG figure who famously faked his own death and lived under an assumed identity in California before being arrested. This episode highlighted how deeply the cartel’s activities and personal relationships intertwined.
