Big meeting of Collector and SP on drug smuggling in Neemuch, action plan made to stop illegal farming and run special campaign on hotspots

Neemuch. A high level meeting was organized on Monday to establish effective control on the illegal trade of narcotics and other drugs in the district. In this meeting of the district level NCORD (Narcotics Coordination) Committee held under the leadership of Collector Himanshu Chandra and Superintendent of Police Ankit Jaiswal, a concrete action plan against drugs was finalized by creating better coordination between various departments.

The main focus of the administration is to break the drug trafficking network in the district and save the youth from the clutches of drugs. It was agreed in the meeting that the fight against drugs will not be limited to legal action only, but social awareness and rehabilitation will also be given equal importance.

Will keep a close eye on illegal farming and hotspots

In the meeting, it was decided to further strengthen surveillance on illegal cultivation of narcotic crops like opium and hemp through drones and other modern methods. Officials directed to assess those areas and hotspots of the district which are most affected by drug addiction. Special awareness campaigns and camps will be organized at these identified places to make the youth and common people aware of the ill effects of drug addiction. Apart from this, work will also be done on a plan to connect farmers with alternative development programs in areas affected by narcotic crops.

Focus from schools-colleges to rehabilitation centers

In this action plan made for drug prevention, special attention has been given to educational institutions. Instructions were given to intensify awareness campaigns against drug abuse in schools and colleges. Besides, it was asked to ensure regular monitoring of the de-addiction and rehabilitation centers operating in the district so that the people admitted there get the right treatment. The committee also stressed on making a coordinated effort to identify drug addicts and bring them back into the mainstream of society.

Additional Superintendent of Police Naval Singh Sisodia, Superintendent Central Narcotics Bureau Parveen Dhull and J.P. were present in the meeting. Meena, Chief Medical Officer D. Prasad, District Education Officer S.M. Mangriya and Drug Inspector Shobhit Kumar Tiwari and many other senior officers were present. The officials made it clear that any illegal drug activity will not be tolerated in the district and strictest action will be ensured against the culprits.
