Violence during civic elections in Jharkhand
Ranchi: During the recently held civic elections in Jharkhand, incidents of violence were seen at many places. Two people were shot and injured in a violent clash in Giridih, while a fight broke out in Ranchi’s Hindpiri area over allegations of fake voting. The mob attacked SDPO Praveen Singh in Chas, Bokaro, due to which he was injured.
Violence during voting in Giridih
There was a clash between two parties in Ward No. 18 on Monday during the Giridih Municipal Corporation elections. After the uproar, angry people vandalized the shops. In this case, two people named Mohd Shamim Ansari alias Sheru and Mohd Aslam were injured in the firing. He was referred to Dhanbad in critical condition. Sheru was shot in the head while Aslam was shot in the leg. Controversy started as soon as voting started, due to which clashes continued throughout the day. The police had to intervene several times.
Information about voting irregularities
Voting was 61.83% across 48 civic bodies in the state, with Seraikela showing the highest turnout and Ranchi the lowest. In the last phase of voting, both the parties once again clashed in Azad Nagar locality, due to which the situation went out of control and a fight broke out.
SDPO attacked in Bokaro
There has been news of attack on SDPO Praveen Singh in Chas Municipal Corporation area of Bokaro district. The incident took place at the polling booth in ward number 32, after which the police officer was admitted to the hospital. Taking information about the incident, Bokaro Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh said that a large number of people were present near the polling booth, which was in violation of the Election Commission guidelines.

Harvinder Singh said that some people were trying to conduct fake voting in favor of their candidate. Police are investigating the matter and strict action will be taken against the culprits. The administration has given a clear indication that strict action will be taken against those who disrupt the election process.
