Rehan Ahmed’s Personal Life

Rehan Ahmed became England’s youngest men’s Test player at 18 years and 126 days during the third Test against the Pakistan national cricket team in Karachi in December 2022.

He said bowling to his older brother Raheem, a left-handed batter who has played for Leicestershire’s second XI, helped him prepare for international cricket. Rehan often bowled a googly followed by a leg-spinner to Raheem, the same combination he used to take his first Test wicket, dismissing Saud Shakeel.

His father, Naseem, is originally from Mirpur, Pakistan, and was a keen cricketer. He supported Rehan and his brothers through late nights and early mornings of training. Naseem was present when Rehan received his first England Test cap.

Rehan has two brothers:

  • Raheem – played for Leicestershire second XI
  • Farhan – played second XI cricket for Nottinghamshire at age 14

He said he did not expect to play in the final Test of the series and was grateful for the support from England’s coaching staff and captain during his debut.
