Historic launch of ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme in Punjab
Launching this scheme, Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government “She knows very well how to mobilize resources for public welfare schemes, which is carried out with complete honesty and foresight.” He said that ensuring nutritious food for every child is not just a promise but a moral duty. He also said that in the upcoming public-friendly budget, the scope of public welfare measures will be further expanded keeping in mind the interests of every section of the society.
Focus on food and nutrition security
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensure food and nutritional security for every family of Punjab. Referring to the hard work of the farmers of Punjab, he said that the state has always played a leading role in feeding the country. At the same time, some families are still struggling for livelihood, hence ‘Meri Rasoi Yojana’ has been started.
Food kit information
The Chief Minister said that under the scheme, food kits will be provided to 40 lakh families. Each kit will include two kg pulses, two kg sugar, one kg salt, 200 grams turmeric powder and one liter mustard oil. These kits will be given separately from the wheat available under the National Food Security Act.

Markfed has been made the nodal agency for this initiative. The Chief Minister said that these kits will be distributed free of cost by the Food and Civil Supplies Department. The government has put in place robust systems to ensure smooth distribution.

The Chief Minister said that Punjabis have always brought the country out of the food crisis. This initiative is part of our series of people-friendly policies. This guarantee was neither written nor in the party’s manifesto, but it is our moral responsibility towards the people of Punjab.

The Chief Minister announced that distribution of these kits will start from April and free distribution will continue after every quarter. He assured that there will be no compromise on quality and all food items will be subjected to strict quality checks.
