Six dead, five children and a woman involved in massive fire in Meerut
Meerut. A tragic accident took place in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday night. Six people of the same family died in a fire in the house of a textile businessman in Kidwai Nagar Islamabad of Lisadi Gate police station area. The dead include five children and a woman. In the preliminary investigation, the cause of the fire is believed to be short circuit.
Fire broke out in a three-storey house
This three-storey house located in street number-3 of Kidwai Nagar Islamabad is said to belong to textile businessman Iqbal Ahmed. His two sons Asim and Farooq lived in the house with their families. On the first floor, a factory named ‘I Sons Embroidery’ operated, where cloth was prepared from power looms. Family members lived on the second floor.
Accident happened during namaz
At the time of the incident, Iqbal Ahmed and his two sons had gone to the mosque to offer Taraweeh prayers. Amir Bano, Rukhsar and children were present in the house. Suddenly the house caught fire at around 9:30 pm. Within a short time, the fire took a huge form and the entire house was filled with smoke. Hearing the screams, people nearby reached the spot and informed the police and fire brigade. Due to narrow streets, fire brigade vehicles could not reach the spot directly. Local people entered the house through the roofs, took out the injured and tried to extinguish the fire at their level.
Six declared dead in hospital
All the injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared five children and Asim’s wife Rukhsar dead.

Treatment of the injured is going on and their condition is said to be critical.
Administration took stock
As soon as the information about the incident was received, District Magistrate Dr. VK Singh, SSP Avinash Pandey, DIG Kalanidhi Naithani and SP City Ayush Vikram Singh reached the spot. Officials inspected the spot. District Magistrate Dr. VK Singh said that prima facie there is a possibility of fire due to short circuit. There were difficulties in relief and rescue operations due to narrow streets. He said that the treatment of the injured is going on and the matter is being investigated. After this accident, there is an atmosphere of mourning and panic in the entire area. Local people are shocked by the incident.
