Expectations like ‘Dhurandhar-Animal’… Shahid Kapoor’s co-star’s big statement on the earnings of ‘O Romeo’

Tezzbuzz Desk – Shahid Kapoor’s film O Romeo is in the news for its story and treatment, but the film is not performing as expected at the box office. After 12 days of release, the film has earned around Rs 57.51 crore at the Indian box office and is still far away from the Rs 100 crore mark.

The film has received mixed reviews, but its story and craft are also being praised. Meanwhile, Hussain Dalal, who plays Shahid’s friend in the film, has given a big statement regarding the box office collection.

“It is wrong to compare every film with a blockbuster”

In a recent conversation, Hussain Dalal said that he is not disappointed with the collection of the film. He believes that every film should be judged on its own merit and genre, and not by comparison with recent big hits.

He said, “We start comparing every new film with the previous all-time blockbuster, which is a strange yardstick. The focus should be on the craft and story of the film.”

Why expectations like ‘Dhurandhar’, ‘Animal’ or ‘Border 2’?

Hussain Dalal clearly said that it is wrong to expect that ‘O Romeo’ will collect equal to films like Dhurandhar, Animal or Border 2. According to him, the audience has become used to the crazy numbers in recent “angry” and large-scale films, so they start expecting the same from every film.

He said, “People thought it would also be an angry film, but it is a story-based film. It has a big plot, but it is not just an angry action film.”

Strong starcast and literary base

Apart from Shahid Kapoor, actors like Trupti Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwari, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Vikrant Massey have been seen in the film.

It is being told that the film is inspired by famous writer Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, which is based on the background of the underworld.

Hussain Dalal further said that there should be space for all types of films in the industry. Citing the examples of Vishal Bhardwaj and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he said that poetic tragedy and grand cinema have their own place. The aim of every film is not to earn Rs 1000 crore, some films are also made for their story and art.
