Ghooskhor Pandat Film Controversy: The controversy regarding Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ is not stopping. Although the name of the film has also been announced to be changed, the matter has reached the court and the legal proceedings related to it have also intensified. Jabalpur Court of Madhya Pradesh, while hearing the complaint, has directed to issue notice to the producer and director of the film and also to the OTT platform Netflix.

Statement of complainant Vaibhav Pathak recorded

The statement of complainant Vaibhav Pathak has been recorded in the court of Jabalpur First Class Judicial Magistrate Pankaj Savita on Monday. Alleging that the sentiments of a section of the society have been hurt, the complainant has described the matter as a serious and cultural and social issue. Vaibhav Pathak has opposed the controversial title of this film, calling it an attack on the dignity of the Brahmin community. After hearing the statement of the complainant, the court directed to issue a notice to the producers and director of the film including Netflix.

The court sent notice to these people

Those to whom the court has sent notices include Netflix (USA) President Reed Hastings, Co-Chief Executive Officer Ted Sarandas, Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria and Netflix India Vice President Monica Shergill. The court has also sought answers from all of them in this matter. On the other hand, advocate Aseem Trivedi, who appeared on behalf of the complainant, said that even though the process of changing the title is going on, the publicity done before it has hurt a large section. This cannot be compensated merely by changing the name.

Associating the word Pandit with a negative word like “briber” not only portrays a fictional character but also affects the social image of the entire community. The complainant says that the matter is not just related to title but to the respect and identity of a class.
