Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Costume designer Neeta Lulla has worked on shaping the visual language of the most iconic films in a career spanning more than three decades. One of her major works was Ashutosh Gowarikar’s 2008 historical film Jodhaa Akbar, in which Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were seen together. The film’s costumes were not just a choice of clothes, but were architectural marvels of craftsmanship. From Rajput silhouettes to stunning Mughal detailing, the clothes covered it all. The production included approximately 400 kilograms of gold, precious stones and jewelry sets. Which took more than 600 days to make. Speaking to NDTV, Neeta Lulla told that guards were deployed for the jewelery worn by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He further said that there were about 5 security guards in the jewelery room. The security guard came running to me and said that something was lost. For a few seconds the whole room feared the worst. We all held our breath and asked what was lost, to which she said that a pearl was lost. Then we breathed a sigh of relief. When we realized that the jewel was lost. Everyone started talking on walkie-talk. Everyone came running. There was a panic on the set because of how seriously the production took care of the treasure.

Hrithik Roshan pays attention to everything

While Aishwarya’s jewelery was for security, Hrithik Roshan’s big armor required courage. Playing the role of Mughal emperor Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar meant wearing heavy metal armour, especially in big battle scenes. Neeta admitted that she expected complaints about her weight, but instead she was surprised to see the actor’s accuracy. She further said that contrary to what I had thought, Hrithik would come to me and complain about how much weight I am putting on him. But he was very cooperative. This guy on the set noticed that the armhole was a quarter inch larger than the other one. I was surprised, however, I never paid attention to it. He was wearing armor and I was asked to cut it with a chisel without taking it off. This story shows the great attention paid to costume and character.
