Clue found through girlfriend

According to Mexican Defense Minister Ricardo Trevila, intelligence had identified a trusted associate linked to El Mencho’s partner. Security forces chased the man to a rural compound near the town of Tapalpa in the mountainous region of Jalisco state. When the woman was seen coming out of the compound, the officials were sure that the mafia was hiding there under security.

The very next day, the army surrounded the entire area, after which gunmen loyal to El Mencho started firing indiscriminately on the security forces. The mafia associates took him and ran away into the nearby dense forest but after a lot of effort the soldiers found him in an injured condition. The seriously injured El Mencho and his two bodyguards died in a helicopter en route to a medical center.

Mexico in the fire of violence

As soon as the news of El Mencho’s death spread, fighters of his cartel Jalisco New Generation started horrific violence and arson in several states. The gunmen blocked major roads and set fire to many buildings and vehicles, creating an atmosphere of fear across the country. In this bloody conflict and riots, at least 25 National Guard soldiers have been martyred and about 30 suspected members have also been killed.

Who was the dreaded El Mencho?

59-year-old El Mencho was the leader and chief operator of Mexico’s most powerful and dangerous Jalisco New Generation Cartel, or CJNG. His organization was very notorious and infamous throughout the world for smuggling deadly drugs like Fentanyl into America on a large scale.
