Didn’t go to toll but still got money deducted? How to get back wrongly deducted money from FASTag, know the complete method
FASTag Refund Process: Lakhs of passengers traveling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will benefit from the incident that took place near Adoshi Tunnel near Khapoli on February 3. The toll tax collected will be refunded to about 1.2 lakh motorists who were recently stuck in a massive 32-hour traffic jam due to the overturning of a gas tanker. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has confirmed in this regard that a total amount of Rs 5.16 crore will be refunded to the FASTag accounts of the passengers.
In such a situation, in the absence of the government, the money is returned. But if you also had a complaint that the vehicle did not pass through the toll, still money was deducted from FASTag. In such a situation, there is no need to panic. You have every right to get a refund.
Why is money deducted without crossing the toll?
Often this happens due to technical glitch or network problem. Many times FASTag is not scanned properly at toll plazas. The operator then manually enters the vehicle information into the system. During this period, if the vehicle number is entered incorrectly, the amount may be deducted from the FASTag of another person. That means it may not be your fault, but the system’s.
Complain immediately, you will get a refund
- If money has been wrongly deducted from your FASTag, you can immediately call toll free number 1033 and lodge a complaint.
- Apart from this, you can also complain through the website and mobile app of the concerned bank or FASTag issuing company.
- You can also send your issue to the official email falsededuction@ihmcl.com. If after investigation the deduction is found to be incorrect, the amount is usually refunded within 30 days.
- The process is monitored by the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL).
Year long toll pass for Rs 3000
The central government has announced a scheme for private vehicle drivers. FASTag Annual Pass Facility has also been started. You can get this pass made by paying a fee of Rs 3000. This pass will be valid for one year or 200 trips. Keep in mind, this is only for personal vehicles and is not transferable. It will not be valid on state government highways or expressways. It can be found on the website of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) or highway travel app Can be activated from.

How to apply for annual pass
- Download the Highway Travel app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Click on the FASTag Annual Pass tab in the app.
- Enter vehicle registration number.
- Verify with the OTP received on the mobile.
- Pay through UPI/Debit/Credit cards.
The pass will be activated within approximately 2 hours of payment.
