Ranveer Singh and ‘Don 3’ makers told to settle dispute in court

What started as a casting exit has now turned into a full-blown industry dispute. The conversation around Don 3 is no longer just about who will lead the film, but about money, contracts and responsibility. And now, the matter may move from meeting rooms to courtrooms.

The Producers Guild of India has advised the makers of the action franchise and actor Ranveer Singh to pursue a legal route to resolve their compensation dispute.

The move comes after attempts at mediation failed to bring both sides to common ground.

According to Variety Indiathe Guild said its role in such matters is limited.

With both parties sticking to their positions, members suggested that legal teams should now take over through appropriate channels.

In simple terms, the informal talks have ended.

The dispute began after Ranveer exited Don 3produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Farhan Akhtar.

Reports say the production house is seeking Rs 40 crore in compensation, claiming losses during pre-production and development.

The 40-year-old actor is said to contest the extent of the financial liability placed on him. He reportedly offered to pay a certain amount as a gesture of goodwill.

But that offer was withdrawn after the compensation figure presented by Excel was considered excessive.

People familiar with the matter claim the actor does not believe he has contractual responsibility for the claimed losses.

Reportedly, the disagreement was also discussed at a meeting hosted by Aamir Khan in Mumbai, attended by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Ekta Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar and Punit Goenka. Both sides reportedly filed documents.
