Political storm over demonstration during AI summit: BJP parliamentary committee passes resolution calling Rahul Gandhi mastermind

New Delhi, 24 February. The controversy over the shirtless protest by the Youth Congress during the India AI Impact Summit held last week at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital does not seem to be stopping. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology passed a resolution regarding this incident in its meeting on Tuesday. Nishikant Dubey, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, gave this information while condemning the incident that took place on February 20, 2026.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was the mastermind behind the shirtless protest by Indian Youth Congress workers at the AI Impact Summit last week. The ruling party at the Center asserted that the long arm of the law will soon reach the ‘crook’ who had masterminded the chaotic incident behind the scenes to defame India.

The BJP’s reaction came after a Delhi court sent Indian Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib to four days’ police custody in connection with his shirtless protest at the AI Impact Summit venue. BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, in a press conference held at the party headquarters here, alleged that the youth wing of Congress had protested at the AI Summit at the behest of Rahul Gandhi.

It is noteworthy that some workers of the Indian Youth Congress had demonstrated dramatically by removing their shirts during the AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam last Friday. They were protesting with T-shirts printed with slogans against the government and the India-US trade agreement, after which they were removed from the venue by security personnel present at the venue. Delhi Police has arrested eight Indian Youth Congress workers including Chib in this case.
