An armed intruder was shot dead early Sunday morning after attempting to enter President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, according to officials. The incident occurred at the heavily secured property in West Palm Beach and involved the U.S. Secret Service along with local law enforcement.
What Happened at Mar-a-Lago?
Authorities stated that the unidentified man, believed to be in his early 20s, approached the north gate of Mar-a-Lago at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was reportedly carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can.
Secret Service agents, who are responsible for protecting the sitting U.S. President, responded to the situation. A deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was also present at the scene.
Officials confirmed that the suspect was shot during the confrontation and was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries to law enforcement personnel were reported.
