Here’s How Next-Gen Honda City Could Look Like!
Japanese car manufacturer Honda has been dormant in the Indian market for quite some time. The last big launch from Honda was the Elevate, and that was in 2023. Honda currently has the Amaze, City, City Hybrid and Elevate in its India lineup. The Honda City was once an extremely popular sedan and is, in fact, one of the sought-after, no-nonsense sedans in this segment. Honda says that it has started work on the next-generation City, and the same is expected to come to the market by 2028. While we are still some time away from the next-gen City, an artist has imagined how the next-gen sedan might end up looking.
Honda had said that the upcoming sixth-generation City sedan will get a radical design, and it is going to be inspired by the 0 Series sedan concept that Honda showcased. The artist in this case took inspiration from the 0 Series and also the Prelude to come up with a more realistic-looking design.
The first thing one would notice in this particular render is the lights. The headlamps are slim and blacked out. The grille almost disappears into a black band with the Honda logo in the center. The render image actually picked the Honda Prelude, which is a 2-door hybrid coupe, and stretched it to make it look like a 4-door sedan.
The front of the Honda City render looks sporty, and we also noticed that there are no chrome elements anywhere on the car. Coming to the side profile, you notice that the 4-door sedan gets a sloping roofline and straight window lines. The 0 Series sedan that Honda showcased last year is actually a concept for an electric sedan that Honda will be launching in the international market in the coming years. If Honda were to take inspiration from both these models, then the rear of the next-generation City will be coupe-like.
With rising competition in the segment, Honda might offer more features like a panoramic sunroof or maybe even a larger sunroof, automatic climate control, electric seats with memory function, seat ventilation and massage function, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-function steering wheel, updated Honda Sensing, which is its version of ADAS, and many more.

Honda is likely to offer the next-generation City with the same set of petrol engine options. The sixth-generation City might use the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that is tuned for the sedan. We say that because it was only with the current generation that Honda shifted from an SOHC to a DOHC engine. The engine might be tuned to make it compliant with the upcoming emission norms.
The sedan, with all these changes, will look a lot more premium and will compete with the likes of Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus, which is expected to get a generation update by then. Along with the regular petrol engine, Honda might also introduce the strong hybrid version of the City in the market.

It would use the same 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine that is paired with an e-CVT gearbox as standard. The regular City will come with manual and CVT gearboxes. Before 2028, when Honda launches the next-gen City, it is expected to introduce a mild facelift for the City, and the Elevate is also expected to get a hybrid.
