UP’s investment expansion on global platform, North India will get new logistics hub

  • AI Sats will build state-of-the-art cargo campus
  • Open path to create thousands of jobs

Lucknow. On the second day of his visit to Singapore, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strengthened the long-term economic vision of the state by signing two important agreements on the front of investment and institutional cooperation for Uttar Pradesh. On one hand, the state’s investment promotion agency Invest UP signed a strategic partnership MoU with Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), while on the other hand, AI Sats, a leading company in the aviation service sector, announced an investment of Rs 4458 crore at Noida International Airport (Jewar) located in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The agreement between Invest UP and SCE is being considered an important step towards building institutional capacity, strengthening the policy framework and promoting sustainable economic development in the state. Under the MoU, work will be done jointly on industrial competitiveness, digital transformation, urban planning and modern infrastructure development through exchange of thematic knowledge, technical cooperation and consultancy services. Both sides will organize study visits, leadership delegations, training and capacity building programmes, which will improve administrative efficiency and performance.

The agreement also provides that, if necessary, separate detailed contracts will be entered into for specific projects, with clear scope, timelines and financial provisions. A target has been set to start negotiations on detailed project agreements within two months and finalize them within six months. With this partnership, Uttar Pradesh will benefit from Singapore’s administrative experience, expertise in the fields of industrial cluster development, logistics management and digital governance.

The second major agreement signed during the visit is related to the aviation and logistics sector. AI SATS will build a state-of-the-art cargo campus in the Jewar Airport complex, which will become a major hub for air freight and logistics not only in Uttar Pradesh but for the entire North India. This is expected to give new impetus to electronics, pharma, agricultural products and other export-oriented sectors. Jewar Airport is being developed as a strategic hub for international trade with multi-modal connectivity, in which this cargo campus will play an important role.

Under the MoU, a world class air catering kitchen will also be set up at the airport itself. The food prepared here will not only be made available to flights operating from Jewar, but will also be supplied to other airports in North India. This will give a boost to food processing, supply chain and related services. The project is likely to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment.

This visit of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is part of the strategy to connect global investors with the possibilities of Uttar Pradesh. Through institutional reforms and big investment proposals, the state government has indicated that it is committed to giving the state a strong position on the international economic map with the help of administrative efficiency, modern infrastructure and global partnerships. Along with the operation of Jewar Airport, these projects can give a new direction to the economic scenario of North India.
