The dispute between Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma and sarpanches increased, ’70 sarpanches’ Even after clarification on the comment, warning of ban on shows in villages
The dispute that broke out between Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma and Sarpanches is not stopping. During a program in Jind, the former Sarpanch was removed from the stage and the comment of ’70 Sarpanch Handai’ has now become a war of prestige between the panchayats of Haryana and the artist. While giving clarification on social media, Masoom Sharma has taken back his words, but the anger of the Sarpanches has not subsided.
Haryana Sarpanch Association has made it clear that until Masoom Sharma does not apologize publicly, his programs will be boycotted in the villages. This controversy has also divided the Haryanvi music industry into two factions.
What is the meaning of the whole controversy and ’70 Sarpanch’ comment?
This whole matter started on February 18 from a family function of Masoom Sharma in Jind. As the crowd in the program increased, the singer asked Rajendra Sharma, former Sarpanch of Muana village, to get down from the stage. He also said, “Be it a Sarpanch, MLA or Minister, I do not accept anyone in my program.” The controversy increased after its video went viral.
Later in a statement, Masoom Sharma referred to the Haryanvi proverb ‘Tere Bargai 70 Handai’, which means ’70 roam like you’. This comment added fuel to the fire and the Sarpanches considered it an insult to the entire Panchayat community. However, Masoom has now said that any public representative who felt bad takes back his words.
“On the matter of 70 Sarpanches, I would like to say that if any public representative feels bad, I take it back. The rest of the protests are from living people. This is a personal matter, do not make it a poison of caste.” — Masoom Sharma, Haryanvi Singer
Sarpanch Association gave open warning
Sarpanch Association head Ranbir Gill Samman has expressed strong objection to the attitude of Masoom Sharma. He said that an elderly man, who was of his father’s age, was taken to the stage and then humiliated like this is completely wrong.
Ranbir Gill said, “Artists should be limited to their songs. Masoom Sharma has insulted not only the Sarpanch but also the MLAs and ministers. If he does not apologize, the panchayats will report on his songs and will not allow his programs to be held in the villages.” The association has also demanded the government to ban songs containing gun culture and abusive language.
There is a divide in the industry, artists are divided
The impact of this controversy is clearly visible on the Haryanvi music industry. The artists are divided into two groups. On one hand, CM’s OSD and artist Gajendra Phogat and singer Rahul Putthi have criticized Masoom Sharma’s statement, while on the other hand, singer and writer Harry Lather has supported Masoom by posting on social media. Meanwhile, Masoom’s brother Vikas Sharma has already publicly apologized over the matter. At the same time, former Sarpanch Rajendra Sharma, who was at the center of the controversy, has said that now the Sarpanch Association of Haryana will answer this and he will not back down.
