Will the story of ‘The Kerala Story 2’ change? Censor board deleted 17 scenes from the film, got ‘Ha’ certificate

The trailer of “The Kerala Story 2”, a sequel to Vipul Amritlal Shah’s 2023 film “The Kerala Story”, was released recently and has been in the limelight ever since. The plot is heavily politicized. A petition has also been filed to ban the release of the film. Meanwhile, the Censor Board has cleared the film. However, before granting the certificate, CBFC has made approximately 17 cuts.

Before giving the green light to “The Kerala Story 2”, the Censor Board has cracked down on the film. According to Bollywood Hungama reports, the board has ordered 17 major changes and cuts in the film. Subsequently, the film has been given a U/A+ certificate.

The Censor Board has deleted 31 seconds from the movie ‘The Kerala Story 2’ and made the total changes to 2.3 minutes.The board imposed some strict conditions on the makers, such as:

Showing a disclaimer that the story is based on true events (should not exceed 2 minutes 3 seconds) and giving a voice-over

Submission of complete screenplay and authenticity documents for certification

Obtaining consent letter from minor actors

Adding a static anti-tobacco warning

After these changes, the final duration of the film is 131 minutes 24 seconds (about 2 hours 11 minutes). The film will hit theaters on February 27, 2026.

Some groups have filed a petition to ban the film. The Kerala High Court will give a final verdict after watching the film on Wednesday.

The film will also be released in Kannada and Telugu languages, aiming to reach a wider audience. The movie ‘Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’ is produced under the banner of Sunshine Pictures and this movie is going to release in theaters across the country on 27 February 2026.
