65 year old man was brutally beaten on the road – Obnews

In a shocking incident of road rage, a 65-year-old man, Nanjundappa, was brutally attacked by a car driver in Bengaluru’s Nagadevanahalli area on Sunday evening, February 23, 2026. CCTV footage captured the attack, which took place over a petty dispute over road space.

Nanjundappa was walking on the road when Naveen (41), who was driving from behind, honked his horn loudly and asked him to move over. Nanjundappa replied that the road was wide enough for him to pass. Angered, Naveen allegedly abused, stopped his car and confronted the elderly man. As the argument escalated, Naveen’s parents came out of the nearby house—his father asking Nanjundappa to leave the matter behind, while his mother and another woman tried to stop Naveen and pull him back inside the house.

Despite these efforts, Naveen stuck to his word. After Nanjundappa went about 200 metres, Naveen allegedly drove ahead, stopped him, dragged him on the road, threw him on the ground and continued beating him. The assault, which included slapping, grabbing by the collar and pushing, extended for about 100 metres. Bystanders tried to intervene, but Naveen also attacked a man who came to help Nanjundappa.

The victim lodged a complaint at the local police station. Based on detailed CCTV evidence, officials registered a case and immediately arrested Naveen. Police described the incident as a clear case of road rage which escalated from a minor argument over honking to a violent attack on an elderly pedestrian.

The footage has sparked anger over rising road rage in Bengaluru, highlighting the need for better traffic awareness and restraint. Nanjundappa is not reported to have any serious injuries, although he sought medical help. Investigation is ongoing.
