Brook completed his century in just 50 balls and was out after scoring 100 runs in 51 balls. With this explosive innings, he became the first captain to score a century in T20 World Cup history. Before this, the captain of any team could not score a century in this tournament. This innings of Brook changed the course of the match and also gave him many big records.

Harry Brook equaled Chris Gayle

This century of Brook is the joint second fastest century in T20 World Cup history. He equaled Chris Gayle by completing his century in 50 balls. Gayle scored a century in 50 balls against South Africa in the 2007 T20 World Cup. The record for the fastest century is also in the name of Gayle, who scored a century in 47 balls against England in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Brook’s innings included him in this special list.

Harry Brook not only scored a quick century but also made the highest score of the T20 World Cup as captain. His innings of 100 runs now tops this list. Earlier this record was in the name of Chris Gayle, who had scored 98 runs against India in 2010. In the same World Cup, Ireland’s stand-in captain Lorcan Tucker had scored unbeaten 94 runs against Oman. Rohit Sharma played an inning of 92 runs against Australia in 2024. Brook left all these behind and set a new record.
