Real benefit of AI only when it becomes multilingual: Amitabh Kant
In New Delhi on Tuesday, former CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant said important things on the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI). During the launch of his new book ‘Smarter than the Storm’, he said that AI will be able to show its full potential only when it becomes multilingual. That means it can understand and converse in everything from local dialects to global languages.
Former G20 Sherpa Kant stressed India’s ambition to lead in emerging technologies. The main focus of the book is to prepare economies and governance systems for the future with AI and new technologies. He said, ‘It is now necessary to integrate AI with modular systems of renewable energy such as solar, wind and clean energy. Adaptability is also important, for which correct instructions should be given on the software.
Co-author Siddharth Sinha praised the Indian government’s India AI Mission, which is making computing and data sets available to everyone. The recent India AI Impact Summit has firmly placed India on the global AI platform.
Sinha said that solutions to social challenges will come from the grassroots level only. AI is useful in every field from predicting floods and fires to increasing the efficiency of data centers, but its energy consumption also needs to be monitored.
This book is a clear guide for decision makers in times of global uncertainties. Connecting climate action, AI innovation, governance reform and economic strategies, it is essential reading for business leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs.
