Mahindra Thar 3-Door With Roxx-Like Grille And More Changes – Spotted Testing
The Thar three-door is one of the most popular SUVs that Mahindra Automotive sells in India. This SUV is known for its rugged appearance and off-roading capabilities. It is also popular for being the choice of a lot of powerful people as well. Now, to make sure that the company continues selling a lot more Thar three-door models in the country, it is working on the development of its facelift. Recently, a test mule of the upcoming Thar three-door with new exterior and interior design updates was spotted testing.
Mahindra Thar three-door spotted testing on mountains
This video showing two test mules of the 2026 Mahindra Thar three-door has been shared on YouTube by Kavyansh Dhankar on their channel. The short clip has been shared from a hill station where these mules were spotted testing, wearing camouflage on the front end and on the rear end. For the first time, it can be noted that a red-colored Thar three-door facelift was coming from the front.
However, as the road was narrow, it had to reverse to make way. During this time, we can note that the main highlight of the upcoming Thar three-door facelift will be its brand-new Thar ROXX-like front grille. Just like the five-door sibling, the new SUV will get a double-rectangle six-slat grille with Mahindra logo lettering on top. Another major addition will be the Thar ROXX-like circular LED headlights with LED DRLs.
Also, the design of the bumper looks the same despite being covered by camouflage. Moving ahead, the clip then shows the black and red Mahindra Thar three-door facelift mules stuck in a traffic jam. It can be noted that the overall shape, silhouette, side profile, and other design details look the same as the current Thar three-door.

The only major difference comes from the alloy wheels. These test mules were fitted with the same 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels that the lower variants of the Thar ROXX get. Apart from these, we can note that the rear LED taillights have also been changed.
They will now be the same C-shaped lights as the Thar ROXX. As for the rear bumper, it will also be slightly revised. Overall, the changes on the outside are small but will make the three-door model look like the five-door Thar ROXX.
Interior updates
Coming to the interior, this particular video only gives a short glimpse of the cabin of this SUV. We can note that the overall dashboard layout will remain the same as the current model. It will get the same Thar ROXX and recently updated model-like 10.25-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. It is believed that the facelifted model could also get a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster as well.

Most likely, the rest of the cabin will remain the same as the current model. Some reports have stated that it could get ADAS Level 2. However, this cannot be confirmed at the moment. The Thar three-door is expected to continue offering dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and many others.
Powertrain options
As for the powertrain options, they will remain the same as the current model. The same 2.2-liter mHawk turbo diesel and 2.0-liter mFalcon turbo petrol engines, along with the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine in the entry-level trims, are expected. Most likely, the Thar three-door facelift will be launched in the coming few months.
