Priyanka Chopra is one of those rare artists who have had it in them to transcend geography and industry, evolving into a true global icon with an ardent fan base that stretches across continents. From Bollywood to Hollywood, and from international red carpets to influential global forums, she has consistently expanded the scope of her presence. With a career defined by reinvention and ambition, she has not only represented Indian talent on the world stage but has also firmly etched her name into the global cultural landscape. The actress is currently busy promoting her upcoming Hollywood film, ‘The Bluff,’ and during one of the promotional interactions, she recalled how she was once nicknamed ‘Piggy Chops’ by Abhishek Bachchan.

In a recent conversation with HeyUGuys, Priyanka revisited the number of nicknames that she has received over the years. She went on to share that one of her co-stars had given her the nickname ‘Piggy Chops.’ As she explained the story behind it, Karl Urban burst into laughter, clearly amused by the anecdote.

Priyanka said, “I have had many. In India, we have a culture of giving people nicknames as a way of showing love. And most people in North India have a nickname. So my name is Priyanka, it has nothing to do with what my nickname sounds like; it’s Mimi. I was also given this other name by a co-actor of mine many, many years ago; it’s a bad one. Piggy Chops. Because I ate like a pig. I know that’s horrible.”

To this, Karl Urban replied, “What? Piggy Chops? Oh my god, that’s outrageous. I don’t think I can ever look at you without thinking about Piggy Chops.”

As per reports, it was Abhishek Bachchan who had nicknamed her ‘Piggy Chops.’ Bachchan, whom she has featured in two movies, would often tease her and then eventually went on to nickname her because she ‘ate like a pig.’

Priyanka is set to return to Indian cinema with S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film, Varanasi. The project will see her share screen space with Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is slated for a theatrical release in April 2027.
