Shankaracharya knocked on the door of High Court in POCSO case, demanding anticipatory bail.
Prayagraj. Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati, who is facing allegations of sexual exploitation of minors, has started the process of filing anticipatory bail petition in Allahabad High Court to avoid arrest. Along with him, his disciple Mukundanand has also demanded relief.
An FIR has been registered against Shankaracharya under the POCSO Act in Jhunsi police station of Prayagraj. The complaint has been filed by the disciple of a religious leader acting as a guardian of minors.
On Tuesday, Shankaracharya’s lawyers gave a copy of the anticipatory bail petition to the government advocate’s office. Now the petition will be filed in the registry of the High Court and after the completion of the process, it will be listed for hearing.
The petition states that the allegations are baseless and have been framed due to political malice. He has also promised to cooperate in the investigation and has demanded a stay on the arrest.
