In Assam, brutality crossed the limits, 7 people stopped the car and raped a woman.

A serious incident of gang rape of a 28-year-old woman has come to light near Silchar in Cachar district of Assam. According to the police, this incident happened on February 19 when the woman was passing through the bypass road in a car with her friend. Meanwhile, some people in an SUV stopped his car and attacked him.

It is alleged that the attackers first controlled the woman’s partner and then took turns raping the woman in front of him. After the incident, the accused threatened both of them and forced them to transfer ₹10,000 to the bank account of a person. The victim lodged a complaint about this incident, after which Assam Police registered a case and started investigation.

This case has been registered at Silchar Sadar Police Station. Police said that the victim has named seven unknown persons as accused. Two of these accused have been identified and arrested, while the police are continuously conducting raids to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.

Police officers started investigation

As part of the investigation, medical examination of the victim has been conducted and her detailed statement has been recorded. Police officials have started examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the spot and surrounding areas to get more information about the identity of the accused and their activities. Officials say that considering the seriousness of the case, all legal procedures are being followed and necessary assistance is being provided to the victim.

The victim’s family told that the accused first questioned the couple about their house and identity and then suddenly attacked them. According to the family, around seven people were present at the spot and they caught hold of the young man and raped the woman in front of him.

Political reaction came to the fore

Political reaction has also come to light regarding this incident. Describing the matter as serious, Sushmita Dev met the Superintendent of Police of Cachar district and inquired about the progress of the investigation. Demanding strict action against the culprits, he said that there should not be any carelessness or laxity in the matter.

Police say that efforts are on to arrest the remaining accused soon. Officials have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice in this case.
