CM Yogi’s ‘Mission Japan’: Made UP a global investment hub in Tokyo Road Show, gave open invitation to Japanese companies

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday invited Japanese companies to invest in the state. According to a statement issued by the state government in Lucknow, the Chief Minister, while addressing the ‘Uttar Pradesh Investment Road Show’ in Japan’s capital Tokyo, said that the state has emerged as India’s fastest growing economy. It has tripled its gross state domestic product (GSDP) and per capita income in the last nine years.

The Chief Minister said that in the last nine years, unprecedented pace was given to infrastructure development by building expressways and airports in the state. According to the statement, the Chief Minister invited Japanese companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh. Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 25 crore, contributes 21 per cent to India’s food grain production despite having only 11 per cent share in the country’s cultivable land.

It has the distinction of being the ‘Food Basket’ of India. Yogi Adityanath mentioned the opportunities in food processing, storage and logistics and invited Japanese companies to be a part of value addition from farm to market.

The Chief Minister also referred to Uttar Pradesh’s extensive water resources and said the ‘fresh water’ reserves could help farming as well as emerging sectors like green hydrogen and ‘pumped storage’ projects. He said that 56 percent of the state’s population consists of working people. Therefore, this state is also equipped with skilled and affordable labor force in all sectors. Noting that 27 industrial parks will be built along the expressway, he invited Japanese businessmen to contribute to private industrial park projects.

Talking about major improvements in air connectivity, he said that 16 domestic and four international airports are operational in Uttar Pradesh. The Noida International Airport, which will be opened soon, will be India’s largest international airport. On cultural and spiritual ties between India and Japan, the Chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh is the birthplace of Lord Ram and is home to major Buddhist sites like Kapilvastu, Sarnath, Shravasti and Kushinagar.

He said that initiatives like Ramayana and Buddhist Circuit are being taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote spiritual tourism. This is Adityanath’s first visit to Japan. Its objective is to deepen strategic and economic ties and to present Uttar Pradesh as a global investment destination.
