Zimbabwe head coach gave a big statement before the match against India

New Delhi, 25 February 2026: Zimbabwe created two big upsets in the 2026 T20 World Cup. First, they defeated Australia and then defeated Sri Lanka. With these two big wins, Zimbabwe reached the semi-finals of this global tournament. Zimbabwe had to face a crushing defeat against West Indies in the Super 8. Now, Zimbabwe will face India. Before this match, Zimbabwe head coach Justin Samson has given an important statement.

Zimbabwe head coach Justin Simmons said that he knew that India would be aggressive. He believes that his underdog team will be fully prepared for this important match, as they have learned lessons from the crushing defeat against West Indies. On Monday, West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by 107 runs. India also lost their opening match against South Africa by 83 runs, and Sammons expects the team to dominate their campaign from the start.

Justin Simmons said after the match against West Indies, “We know how India will play. Their approach will be similar to the approach adopted by West Indies. They (India) will leave no stone unturned. This will teach us a lot. How we handle pressure, how we stay calm and think quickly. How we try to make changes and disrupt the rhythm of the batsmen.”

Sammons admitted the mistakes made against West Indies and said that the opposition’s preconceptions about his team, especially the bowling unit, have been proven correct and such mistakes will have to be avoided against India. He said, “We can work a little more intelligently in this matter. The ground in Chennai will be a little bigger and perhaps it will be a little easier for us in this regard.”
