Rinku Singh’s father Khanchand diagnosed with 4th stage liver cancer, kept on ventilator support in Greater Noida hospital.

New Delhi. Team India’s explosive batsman Rinku Singh had to leave the T-20 World Cup and return to the country. Let us know about this from Dr. Pragya Shukla, Head of Clinical Oncology at Delhi State Cancer Institute? Dr. Pragya Shukla told that regarding Rinku Singh’s father’s stage-4 liver cancer, it is not yet clear whether it is a metastasis disease, i.e. has it come to the liver from some other place in the body or is it cancer originating inside the liver itself? That is, it is important to know what is the primary source of this cancer, but generally it is seen that the chances of recovery of patients who have reached the fourth stage of liver cancer is very less. Along with this, it is being told that Khanchand Singh is on ventilator support, so this creates a possibility that not only liver cancer but his other organs are also not functioning properly. Therefore, this is a critical condition and in this situation the chances of the patient’s recovery are less.

Dr. Shukla further explains that after identifying the primary source of liver cancer patients, it is also seen how much of their liver is affected. If liver involvement is minimal then it can be cured by treatment through stereotactic body radiation therapy. If there are cancer cells in a small part of the liver, then that part of the liver can be removed by doing liver resection, but this is possible only if the functioning of your liver is not badly affected and only a small part of the liver is involved. It is important to understand that the condition is not the same in every stage-4 liver cancer. It depends on whether the cancer has come directly to the liver or the cancer has occurred somewhere else in the body and then from there the cancer cells have reached the liver.

What are the symptoms of liver cancer?

Dr. Shukla tells that if liver is also involved in cancer then some common symptoms appear.

Dr. further says that Liver Cancer occurs in two ways. First, the source of that cancer is somewhere else in the body, that is, it can be breast cancer, lung cancer, oral cancer etc. and then after that the cancer cells reach the liver. This is called metastatic cancer. Secondly, cancer is developing in the liver itself, such as hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangio carcinoma, etc. However, much better medicines and therapy have come for all these cancers and after treatment in the early stages, people live for ten years.
