International Film Festival inaugurated in Delhi

New Delhi – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday raised the curtain of International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026 at Delhi Secretariat. He described it as an important opportunity to establish Delhi as a global cultural and film centre. Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra was also present in this program.

Celebration of cultural power of Delhi

The Chief Minister said that this festival is not just an event of films, but it is a celebration of Delhi’s cultural heritage, creativity and modernity. This will be a public festival in which participation of all Delhiites will be ensured and world cinema will be taken to the common people. Through this, local filmmakers and technicians will get an opportunity to showcase their talent on the international platform. This festival will be organized from 25 to 31 March 2026 at various iconic places in New Delhi.

New identity of Delhi

The Chief Minister said that under the Film Policy of the Delhi Government, Delhi is being made an attractive location for shooting through single-window facility, production support and industry cooperation. Through IFFD, concrete steps are being taken towards establishing Delhi as the cinematic capital of India. He expressed confidence that this festival will give a new direction to the cultural landscape of Delhi.


Screening of more than 125 films

IFFD is a city-wide film festival, which aims to showcase Indian and international cinema. The festival will be held across various venues in New Delhi and will showcase over 125 Indian and international films. Along with this, gala premieres, masterclasses, workshops and cultural programs will also be organised.

Young talents will get a platform

Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said that eminent filmmakers and technical experts from India and abroad will participate in this festival. The event will provide an international platform to young talent and promote meaningful dialogue on new technology and the changing face of cinema.


Main attractions of the festival

Highlights of the festival will include grand gala premieres and special screenings. Presentations dedicated to digital cinema will showcase new technology and innovation. Apart from this, masterclasses and industry panel discussions will also be organised.
