Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The apex court has stayed the trial of the money laundering case registered against him. The court has stayed the proceedings going on in the lower court in the money laundering case of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Soren. During this, Supreme Court Chief Justice Surya Kant told ED that you have registered many big cases. You better pay attention to them.

The bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi has also taken action against ED on Hemant’s petition. The court has issued notice to ED. Earlier, Jharkhand High Court had upheld the summons issued by the Special MP/MLA Court. The Supreme Court has passed this interim order on the special leave petition of Hemant Soren. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has also been arrested in this case. It is being told that Soren was arrested after appearing on the summons of ED.

The bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi has issued a notice to ED on Hemant’s petition. During this, CJI Surya Kant, while staying the order of the High Court, said in a light tone, ‘Yesterday we were reading in the newspaper that ED has registered a lot of cases. Pay attention to them and focus your energy on big cases, which will give you positive results.’ ED’s lawyer told in the court that summons were sent to Hemant Soren seven times, but he did not appear. On this, Jharkhand CM’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi said that Hemant Soren appeared thrice, but he was arrested.

High Court refused to hear

ED had registered a case against an associate of Hemant Soren, from whom it recovered documents of 8.86 acres of land belonging to the Chief Minister. After this, a case was registered under PMLA and investigation was started. Chief Judicial Magistrate of Ranchi issued summons under section 174 of IPC on the basis of complaints and evidence. Hemant Soren appealed to the High Court regarding this and requested to cancel the action against him. However, the High Court refused this.
