Fear of catching insects in rice? Liberation will be found in these 4 ways, Ginnis will be sure throughout the year
No matter what else a Bengali has in his hand, he wants to have a stock of rice. But the difficulty lies elsewhere. Rice cannot be stored for a long time. Insects get caught in it. Many times, if you buy more rice from the market, insects grow quickly in it. This hazard occurs either due to moisture or improper storage. But there is nothing to panic. You can keep rice fresh year-round using simple household items at no cost. Learn 4 simple methods.
The first thing you need to keep rice is a proper container. Always store rice in plastic or steel airtight containers. Moisture is an insect’s best friend. So before putting the rice, make sure that the inside of the pot is completely dry. Always keep the container tightly closed. So that outside air or water vapor does not enter inside. There is almost no possibility of insects in it.

Neem leaves have been used to preserve rice in rural Bengal for ages. The strong bitter smell and anti-septic properties of neem leaves are master insect repellants. Place a few dried neem leaves inside the rice drum. Rice beetle will not dare to come near this smell. This method works like magic for both rice and pulses.
If you see that the rice has a slight dampness, put it in full sun without delay. Sunlight absorbs the moisture inside the rice. At least once a month, if the rice is exposed to the sun, the insect eggs will be destroyed. Besides, even if the insects get caught, if the rice is spread in the sun for a while, they will escape by themselves. Fill containers only after the rice has cooled completely before storing.

Scatter 8-10 cloves or a handful of pepper in the rice drum. The pungent smell of cloves and pepper prevents insect breeding. This method is most effective if you want to store rice for a long time. It also does not spoil the quality of rice.
