PM Modi, who reached Israel, received grand welcome in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu addressed him as ‘Great Leader’
Tel Aviv, February 25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Tel Aviv on Wednesday on a two-day state visit to Israel, where he was given a grand welcome. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara received PM Modi at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

This is PM Modi’s second visit to Israel in nine years on the invitation of Netanyahu. India-Israel relations were elevated to the level of strategic partnership during his first visit to the country in July, 2017.

Benjamin Netanyahu greeted Prime Minister Modi with a warm embrace. After this, PM Modi was formally welcomed at the airport located 20 kilometers south-east of Tel Aviv. Prime Minister Modi will address the Israeli Parliament on Wednesday evening. Then will hold talks with Netanyahu. The two leaders will hold talks on a wide range of issues on Thursday.

All eyes on Sara Netanyahu’s saffron dress
As soon as he got off the plane, PM Netanyahu welcomed ‘his friend’ PM Modi with open arms. Both the leaders shook hands and during this, while praising the Indian Prime Minister, the Israeli PM said in English, ‘You are a great leader and are looking very good.’

The two friends hugged, then Netanyahu introduced PM Modi to his wife Sara. Mrs. Netanyahu was wearing a saffron colored formal suit. Here, PM Netanyahu pointed towards Prime Minister Modi’s pocket square (handkerchief kept in the jacket pocket) and said, ‘It is matching with it.’ After this, both the PM and everyone present there burst out laughing. The atmosphere was happy and buzzing with laughter.
News of important agreement between India and Israel
Prime Minister Modi said that the two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. This visit of PM Modi is taking place amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia. India-Israel relations have strengthened in the last few years. During this visit of PM Modi, Israel and India are expected to hold talks on Artificial Intelligence as well as defence.
Defense cooperation has emerged as an important pillar of partnership between the two sides. In this, Israel is providing many military platforms and weapon systems to India. In November last year, an important agreement on defense cooperation was signed during the visit of India’s Defense Secretary to Israel. Trade and investment relations between the two sides are also witnessing steady progress.
Will become the first Indian PM to address the Knesset
Prime Minister Modi will address the Knesset as per his schedule and he will be the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. They will also participate in Indian community events and technology exhibitions.
Jerusalem Post special front page
Meanwhile, Israeli newspaper ‘The Jerusalem Post’ published a special front page to welcome Prime Minister Modi. In it, along with his picture, ‘Namaste’ was written in Hindi and ‘Shalom’ in Hebrew, which means Namaste or peace.
