You will get ₹ 25,000 for helping those injured in a road accident, know what is the government’s Raah-Veer scheme
News India Live, Digital Desk: At the time of road accidents, people often shy away from helping the injured due to fear of police action and legal hassles. To remove this fear and save precious lives, the government has taken a great initiative. The Central Government’s ‘Rah-Veer’ scheme is now being implemented in many states including Delhi, under which huge rewards will be given to those doing good work. What is ‘Rah-Veer’ scheme? The main objective of the Rah-Veer scheme is to reduce deaths in road accidents. Under this scheme, if a person takes a seriously injured person to the hospital in a road accident on time, the government will provide him a cash incentive of ₹ 25,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation. Importance of ‘Golden Hour’ The first one hour after the accident is the link between life and death for any injured person. If the patient gets the right treatment within this one hour, then the chances of survival increase to 80%. The ‘Raah-Veer’ scheme encourages ‘Good Samaritan’ to help in this time. Who will get ₹ 25,000 and how? Some rules have been set to avail the benefit of this scheme: Role of helper: The person should immediately take the injured to the hospital or trauma center. Limit of award: Even if the lives of more than one person have been saved in the same accident, a maximum award of ₹ 25,000 is given per incident. Will be honored at the national level: The 10 best ‘Rah-Veers’ selected from across the country will also receive a special national award of ₹ 1 lakh annually. The fear of police and law is over! The government has made it clear that citizens who help will not face any kind of legal trouble: Legal protection: The person helping will not be forced to visit the police station or court. Privacy: If the helper does not want to reveal his identity, the police will not put pressure on him. Without discrimination: This scheme is equally applicable to people of all religions, castes and classes. What is the process to get the money? An Evaluation Committee has been formed at the district level, which will include the District Magistrate (DM), senior police officer and Chief Medical Officer (CMO). On receiving information from the hospital or police, the committee will investigate the matter and the reward amount will be sent directly to the bank account of the helper (Direct Benefit Transfer).
