Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift To Get Fronx’s Turbo Petrol Engine And Automatic Gearbox
A big update for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is on the horizon. Recently, a new test mule of the upcoming Brezza facelift was spotted testing, and a few key details have been revealed. One of the biggest highlights of the new Brezza is that it might be getting the same 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine as seen on the popular crossover SUV Fronx.
New Brezza to get 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine
As per the reports after the most recent sighting of the Brezza facelift, it has been reported that the company could be launching this popular SUV with the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine. This is the same engine that powers the Fronx. Also, prior to the Fronx, this motor made its debut with the Baleno RS in 2017.
The 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine is capable of generating 99 bhp and 147.6 Nm of torque. However, most likely, the power figures will be bumped up for the Brezza as it is much bigger in size than the Fronx. The main advantages of the 1.0-litre turbo engine will be that it will provide much faster acceleration and improve the driving dynamics of the Brezza.

As for the transmission options, the turbo petrol variant of the Brezza will be getting a 6-speed manual transmission, as noted in the recently spotted test mule. It is believed that the company could also offer the Brezza turbo petrol with a torque converter automatic gearbox as well.
Presently, Maruti Suzuki offers the Brezza with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine making 101 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the other option is the same engine with a CNG kit that makes 86 bhp and 121 Nm of torque. The company will continue offering these powertrain options with the Brezza after the launch of the turbo petrol variant.
Could get a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine
There are some reports which have highlighted that, in place of the 1.0-litre turbo petrol, Maruti Suzuki could offer the Brezza with a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. The base of this engine will be the 1.5-litre, three-cylinder Z12E motor which is offered with the current generation Swift and Dzire. However, there is no confirmation of this.
Design updates

Apart from the big change under the bonnet, Maruti Suzuki will also be offering the new Brezza facelift a much-needed exterior design refresh as well. It is expected to get a revised front bumper, refreshed LED projector headlights, revised taillights, and a rear bumper. Additionally, it will most likely also get a set of new 16-inch alloy wheels and new color options.
On the interior side of things, Maruti Suzuki will continue to offer the same dashboard layout with the Brezza. However, it is expected to get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the newer Maruti Suzuki models. This bigger screen will replace the current 9-inch unit.
Additionally, it could also get a fully digital instrument gauge cluster as well. Other updates could include ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver seat, ambient lighting, and improved materials and finishes.
Once launched, the updated Brezza will take on the popular sub-compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kylaq, and many others.
