Sonanchal Cup Lucknow’s thrilling win, Mughalsarai out of the tournament

The height of excitement was witnessed on the fourth day of the prestigious 23rd Sonanchal Cup state level cricket competition held at the local Gandhi Maidan. In this tough match played between Lucknow and Mughalsarai Railways, Lucknow played brilliantly and defeated Mughalsarai and showed it the way out of the competition. Mughalsarai Railway won the toss and decided to bat first. In the stipulated 25 overs match, Mughalsarai team was reduced to 151 runs in 24.1 overs. On behalf of the team, Yogesh Rana played a brilliant inning of 49 runs (4 fours, 1 six) on 45 balls, while Siddhant Pathak added a quick 28 runs on 23 balls.
On behalf of Lucknow, bowler Amrendra Tiwari bowled lethally and took 3 wickets giving 31 runs in 4 overs, while Akash Yadav achieved 2 wickets giving just 18 runs in 5 overs. Chasing the target of 152 runs, the Lucknow team made a steady start. Although some wickets fell in the middle, the batsmen maintained patience and won by losing 6 wickets in 24.1 overs. Amit Gupta played a mature inning of 48 runs off 51 balls, while Murari added a crucial 33 runs off 30 balls. Mughalsarai bowlers Vinod Kumar and Siddhant Pathak managed to take 1 wicket each, but they could not stop Lucknow’s path to victory.
Executive Engineer (Civil) E• Sadanand Yadav was present as the chief guest on the fourth day of the competition. He got introduced to the players and encouraged them. Lucknow all-rounder Amrendra Tiwari was awarded Man of the Match by the senior players of Nine Star Obra for his excellent performance. Roshan Singh and Suryaprakash Chaurasia played the role of judges in the match. Scoring was handled by Akshay Patel and Pradeep Sharma, while commentary was done by Sankat Mochan Jha and Raju Yadav. On this occasion, Junior Engineer E• Sheshnath Yadav, Organizing Secretary Sankat Mochan Jha, Vice President Raju Yadav, Kalim Khan, Arvind Yadav ‘Gappu’, Brijesh Yadav, Ramesh Verma and a large number of sports lovers were present. Tomorrow’s great clash: Sonpur Railway (Bihar) will face NR Railway (Varanasi) tomorrow in the next phase of the competition. There is a lot of curiosity about this high-voltage match among the local spectators.
