PM Modi leaves for Israel tour, says – I am excited to meet Netanyahu – Hope to further strengthen the relations between the two countries

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said India and Israel share a strong and multidimensional strategic partnership that has seen remarkable growth and progress. He said he was looking forward to his talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Prime Minister left for Israel on Wednesday on a two-day visit. Before leaving for Israel visit, PM Modi said that he is confident that his visit will further strengthen the “enduring ties” between India and Israel, set new goals for the strategic partnership and take forward the two countries’ shared vision for a strong, innovative and prosperous future.

PM Modi said that he is visiting Israel on the invitation of his “dear friend Prime Minister Netanyahu”. “I look forward to the discussions I will have with Prime Minister Netanyahu aimed at further strengthening our cooperation in a variety of areas, including science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defense and security, trade and investment, as well as people-to-people ties,” he said in his departure statement.

The Prime Minister said the two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. During this visit, Modi will meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog. He said, “I will have the honor of being the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.” This occasion will be a tribute to the strong parliamentary and democratic ties that bind our two countries.”

PM Modi said he was excited to interact with members of the Indian expatriate community in Israel, who have long cherished the India-Israel friendship.
