The rich people of India do not like their country?
Delhi: Is the confidence of the rich in big countries of the world including India wavering? A new report has made a shocking revelation. Last year, around 1.42 lakh high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) across the world decided to leave their country and settle in other countries. India is also included in the top three countries in this list, from where a large number of millionaires migrated.
Britain remained first in the migration of the rich. Last year, 16,500 rich people left the country. Earlier in 2024 also, 10,800 rich people had said goodbye to Britain. Weak economic performance for almost a decade and increasing tax burden are being considered as the main reasons for this. China was at second place, from where 7,800 rich people moved to other countries. India is at third place in this list. Last year, 3,500 millionaires from India decided to settle abroad. Apart from this, a large number of rich people also migrated from countries like South Korea, Russia and Brazil.
Why are other countries appealing to the rich?
The report suggests that factors like tax policies, political stability, lifestyle and business-friendly environment are influencing the decisions of the rich. Especially the rich, troubled by high taxes and strict rules, are looking for countries where they can get more relief and security.
Who benefited the most?
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the biggest beneficiary of this migration. Due to the zero income tax policy there, last year 9,800 rich people made UAE their new destination. America was at second place, where 7,500 rich people preferred to settle down. Apart from this, countries like Italy, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and Singapore also attracted a large number of wealthy people.
What is the big sign?
Experts believe that the migration of the rich is not just a tax related issue, but it also indicates the economic health and investment climate of a country. India may have seen 3,500 rich people leave the country, but the fast-growing economy and startup ecosystem is still attracting global investors.
