Prime Minister Narendra Modi created history, became the first leader in the world to get 100 million followers on Instagram.

Tezzbuzz Desk- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made another digital achievement in his name. He has become the first leader and politician in the world to cross the 100 million (10 crore) followers mark on Instagram. This achievement reflects their strong global digital presence and also underlines the effectiveness of their direct communication with the public through social media.

Prime Minister Modi had joined this platform of Meta in the year 2014. From then till now his popularity has been continuously increasing. According to current statistics, his number of followers is far ahead of many global leaders.

Former US President Donald Trump is in second place with 43.2 million followers, which is less than half of Modi’s followers. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is in third place with 15 million followers.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is in fourth place with 14.4 million followers. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is ranked fifth with 11.6 million followers, while Argentina’s President Javier Milei joins the list with 6.4 million followers. The total followers of all these leaders taken together are less than the number of personal followers of Prime Minister Modi.

Even within India, Prime Minister Modi’s digital popularity is far ahead of other leaders. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has 16.1 million followers, while Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has around 12.6 million followers.

Prime Minister Modi is among the top leaders not only in social media but also in global approval ratings. According to the data, his approval rating stood at 70 percent by December 2025, making him top in the global list.

According to the latest data of the survey conducted by American business intelligence firm Morning Consult between 2 and 8 February 2026, Prime Minister Modi is in first place with 67 percent approval rating. Former Prime Minister of Czech Republic Andrej Babis is in second place with 59 percent. Japanese leader Sanae Takaichi is in fifth place with 56 percent, while Donald Trump is in 11th place with 40 percent approval rating.

This digital and global popularity of Prime Minister Modi indicates that in the age of social media, the identity of political leadership is not limited to traditional platforms only. Direct communication and constant presence through digital platforms has become a significant force in today’s politics.
