Kolkata: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match played on Monday, Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 39 runs. This match between the two teams was played at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After winning the toss in this match, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane decided to bowl first. Batting first, Gujarat had set a target of 199 runs for KKR on the basis of Gilna’s 90 and Sai Sudarshan’s brilliant half-century. In reply, KKR could score only 158 runs after losing 8 wickets.
In reply to the target of 199 runs, KKR had a very bad start. Mohammad Siraj had dismissed Gurbaz in the very first over, only one run came from his bat. After this, Narine and Rahane tried to take over the innings. But Rashid Khan took the wicket of Narine in the sixth over. Narine scored 17 runs in 12 balls. After this, there was a small partnership between Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane but Iyer once again flopped. He scored 14 runs and became the victim of Sai Kishore in the 12th over. After this Ajinkya Rahane hit fifty, but Sai Kishore took his wicket in the 13th over. Rahane scored 50 runs in 37 balls. After this, Russell’s bat once again remained quiet. Russell could score only 21 runs and became the victim of Rashid Khan. After this, Prasidh Krishna ended KKR’s hopes by dismissing Ramandeep and Moeen Ali in the same over. Kolkata team could score only 158 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Gujarat Titans, who went to bat first after the toss, had a great start. Both openers Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudarshan were seen in coordination with each other. Both of them made a strong start and took on the KKR bowlers. In 10 overs, both added 89 runs without losing any wicket. Gilley scored a half century in just 34 balls. Whereas, Sai Sudarshan scored 50 runs in 33 balls. However, Gujarat suffered a setback early in the 13th over when Sai Sudarshan was out after scoring 52 runs. But after this Butler and Gilley took over. Both of them started scoring runs quickly. Gilley scored 90 runs in 55 balls and was out in the 18th over.
