His followers in the country and abroad are much more than other leaders, while Modi also remains on top in the approval rating.

Active since 2014, Modi’s digital success puts his online influence at the forefront of global leaders. His followers in India and abroad are much larger than other leaders, while his approval rating stood at 67 percent according to Morning Consult’s February 2026 survey, placing him among the most popular leaders globally.
PM Modi’s dominance on Instagram
PM Modi’s 100 million followers are almost double that of former US President Donald Trump, who has 43.2 million followers. Furthermore, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is at the third position with 15 million followers. The President of Brazil has 14.4 million followers and the President of Türkiye Tayyip Erdogan has 11.6 million followers.
Argentine President Javier Milei has 6.4 million followers. The total number of followers of these five leaders is also less than that of Modi. This data reflects the strength of Prime Minister’s global digital presence and social media strategy.
Clear lead in India too
Even within the country, PM Modi has taken lead over other leaders. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has 16.1 million followers, while Congress’ Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi has around 12.6 million followers.
PM Modi is ahead of other leaders in terms of social media followers as well as global approval rating. According to a February 2026 survey by US business intelligence firm Morning Consult, Modi’s approval rating is 67 percent, placing him at the top globally.
