Manush-Manav pair reached semi-finals of Singapore Smash, created history

SingaporeThe pair of Indian table tennis players Manush Shah and Manav Thakkar created history by entering the semi-finals of the Singapore Smash. They have become the first Indian men’s doubles pair to reach the semi-finals in a Grand Smash level event of World Table Tennis.

The sixth-seeded Manush-Manhu pair defeated Belgium’s Martin Allegro and Adrian Rosenfosse 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-9) in straight games. This match lasted for 27 minutes. The Indian pair took their head-to-head record against the Belgian pair to 2-0. It is noteworthy that the Belgian pair had made it to the quarterfinals by defeating the top seeded pair.

In the semi-finals, the Indian pair will face fourth-seeded French brothers Felix Lebrun and Alexis Lebrun on Friday.

Earlier in the day, in the mixed doubles category, the journey of sixth seeded Indian pair of Manush Shah and Diya Chitale ended in the quarterfinals. They were defeated by third seeded Brazilian pair of Hugo Calderano and Bruna Takahashi 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 11-5).
