In the sedan segment Maruti Suzuki The Dzire already dominates. But the Honda Amaze car gives it a good competition due to its premium looks and attractive features. Both the cars are available with a 1.2 liter petrol engine and the option of automatic transmission is also given. But which car gives more mileage in the automatic variant is a question in the minds of many.

Differences in engine and power

Both the Dzire and Amaze cars have a 1.2-litre petrol engine, but there is an important difference in their engine design. The Dzire gets a three-cylinder engine, while the Amaze gets a four-cylinder engine. So the power of Amaze is slightly higher and it produces 90 horsepower. In contrast, the Dzire offers a power of 82 horsepower. In terms of torque, however, the Dzire is slightly ahead. It produces 113 Nm of torque, while the Amaze is limited to 111 Nm.

Who leads in mileage?

In terms of real-world mileage, the difference between the two cars is noticeable. Amaze’s mileage in the city is around 9.94 kmpl, while Dzire gives around 11.61 kmpl.

While the Amaze returns a mileage of around 16.62 kmpl on the highway, the Dzire achieves around 19.22 kmpl. Coming to the average mileage, Amaze returns around 13.28 kmpl, while Dzire returns around 15.41 kmpl.

Actual mileage shows a difference of around 6.18 kmpl compared to Amaze’s official claim. In case of Dzire the difference is around 10.3 kmpl. Yet in real-world tests, the Dzire AMT beats the Amaze CVT by around 2.13 kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki has always emphasized on mileage-oriented cars. The company has designed the engine in such a way that it can cover more distance on less fuel. On the other hand, Honda’s engine is relatively power-oriented. This makes for a smoother and more dynamic driving experience, but may have a slight impact on mileage.
