The protector became the eater: Policeman in Uttarakhand seriously accused of rape, assault and forced abortion on the pretext of marriage

Kashipur (Uttarakhand). Once again serious questions have been raised on the khaki uniform protecting the law. In Kashipur of Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, a woman from a minority community has made very serious allegations against a policeman of luring her into a love trap and physically exploiting her, forcibly aborting her, and assaulting her. The name of the accused policeman is Arun Kumar, who is originally from Kashipur and is currently posted in Bhawali in Nainital district. The victim is constantly making rounds of the police station and top police officials for justice, but due to the accused being associated with the police department, clouds of doubt are looming over the investigation and action. Main points and allegations of the case Love trap, marriage in the temple and then turning away: The victim alleges that the policeman Arun Kumar had first asked her about his Trapped in love trap and promised to marry her in the temple and give her the status of wife. But when the woman demanded to get this marriage legally registered under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the accused became enraged and refused to accept the relationship publicly. Rape and brutal beating after entering the flat: According to the victim, on the evening of 8 February 2026, the accused forcefully entered her flat. He dragged the woman by her hair, beat her brutally with kicks and punches and forcibly raped her. CCTV footage of the entire assault incident has also come to light. Forced abortion and death threats: The woman also alleges that the accused not only physically and mentally abused her, but also forced her to have an abortion. Now the accused and his father (especially Arun Kumar’s father) are threatening to kill the victim. Cases have been registered earlier also, yet the police are empty handed. The most surprising thing in this case is that this is not the first dispute of the accused policeman. Case of the year 2025: The victim had also filed a case against the accused in the year 2025, but the accused sought anticipatory bail from the Uttarakhand High Court. (Anticipatory Bail) After visiting the police station several times and appealing to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), a new case has been registered in Kashipur Kotwali, but the accused has not been arrested yet. Even when asked questions by the media, police officers seem to be avoiding giving clear answers.
